Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Farrant.

Rebecca, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Sometimes in life opportunities are unexpectedly presented to you and without the “why” and the “what if” you have to make that decision to take a leap of faith and jump right in. It’s now or never. This is what happened with the founding of La Vie Dance & Culture. I was seeking something new, something different, something where I could give back to the community but also provide an opportunity for me to express myself through the arts while continuing to preserve our history and traditions as I have done for so many years through the Art and Antiques business. Voila….in 2015, La Vie was born.

Located in the heart of historic Mission Hills, next to Hillcrest we have restored what was originally a ballroom dance studio back in the 1970’s and 80’s. The studio itself has a rustic, artsy, cultural feel with its original hardwood floors, panoramic windows and bamboo blinds, selectively surrounded by an array of local and international art pieces, musical instruments and retail clothing.

La Vie not only offers a variety of cultural dances and fitness activities such as Brazilian Samba & Capoeira, West African Dance, Mexican Folklorico, Argentine Tango, Zumba Fitness, and Kids Dance / Hip Hop classes, but also opens its beautiful space as an event venue for Yoga / Wellness Events, Dance Workshops, Art Exhibits, Fundraisers, Spoken Word Evenings, Private Parties, Meetups and so much more….

La Vie Dance & Culture ultimately provides a global experience where everyone is welcome.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting any small business is going to have its challenges. Sometimes we learn through trial and error to find that right niche without over exhausting ourselves in all the wrong areas! As with any new business it takes time for the community to hear, learn and discover you. However, despite all of my struggles it has remained my personal challenge and a commitment to my passion.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with La Vie Dance & Culture – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
La Vie is a unique and personal experience as we take pride in our diversity of decor, activities and classes with global, quality and unique artists. We offer friendly prices to promote community participation.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Being born a Kiwi from New Zealand I can say that San Diego is a spectacular city with warm weather and picturesque beaches.

The friendliness and diversity of people is inspiring. Balboa Park with its Spanish Architecture is beautiful and historic not to mention San Diego is close enough for a LA getaway or a relaxing spa weekend in Palm Springs.

We are very fortunate to have such a wide range of opportunities here in Southern California.
